Featured on the CBS "Early Show" recently was a story about canine intelligence. They published a list of the top ten smartest, as well as, the 10 dumbest breeds. The lists come partly from the book, The Intelligence of Dogs, by Dr. Stanley Coren and partly from evaluations by over 200 dog obedience judges from the US and Canada. Today, we will focus only on the ten Smartest breeds.
As I look at this list, it pops out that most of the breeds Dr. Coren has listed come from working or herding dogs. Several of these breeds, from my experience, are easy to train to perform a multitude of tasks ranging from simple to complicated.
Disagree with the good Doctor? Test your dog yourself. Have fun and find out your dog's intelligence level by purchasing the PoochIQ Kit. I have linked it here for you to check out.

I agree with the ten smartest dogs. I just hope they weren't ordered by ranking because I think the Queensland Heeler should be at the top five. Despite being intelligent, they're also one of the most hard working dogs who never say No to a job.
